Featured new release on Beatport.com

Well the gods of Beatport.com (which, in case you live under a rock, is the #1 destination for affectionados of electronic music) has decided to feature Starflower’s Tranzhop as the premier new chillout release, #1 position, top left hand corner. Whoot.

So, my good friends at MTunes (our distributors) are doing their jobs pimping, the Beatport staff (which hears about 5000 releases in this time) selected Tranzhop for special inclusion, and life is good.

Of course, I’d probably personally throw up and faint if the mainstream embraced the music overnight - keeping in mind, this is a very strange label with a very strange artist at it’s helm - but none the less, what’s important is that the people who are inundated with new music all the time have recognised that our Imaginings are Splendid. Whooot.

Two Month update

Author: DeeKaph

Oh yea Splendid faithful, do not fret, your anxious cries have not fallen upon deaf ears! Things have been absolutely nutty in the Imaginings and it’s been a matter of not posting an update before the cards fall into place. They’re all coming together seemingly all at once so this is to be a big update:

  • Nebulous Projekt will henceforth be known as Starflower. Tranzhop, for those of you who received a copy as the Nebulous Projekt is going into distribution as “Starflower’s Tranzhop“. Future albums from Nebulous Projekt will follow similar nomenclature, such as the sophmore album, which will be “Starflower’s Strange Creatures“.
  • All the in-house personae of James P. Bethell are being re-routed as Starflower, which is to say that future Dee Kaph, Sonik Frollik, Big Phat McNasty and Jamie Phrantik releases will appear as “Starflower’s….”. These seperate “artists” were created to keep the genres separate, but it’s been decided that artists who have some depth to them and can create in multiple genres shouldn’t be segregated but appreciated for the content that they create. Also, the long-time followers of “us” tend to like the material whether it’s labeled as Jamie Phrantik or Nebulous Projekt, etc.
  • Distribution contracts have circulated throughout the internet and via international courier, signed in triplicate and then sent back for notary. It’s official… Splendid Imaginings is distributed by German-based MTunes/Deeep.net, home of some really great talent and providing our label access to SERIOUS world-wide digital distribution. Coming soon to iTunes, Beatport, Napster and ALL the rest. Tranzhop has been submitted, processed and is in the machine and due for official multi-site release mid-August.
  • Strange Creatures” is the next album from Starflower and is DONE, we’ll release it about a month after Tranzhop. How’s that, two full-length album releases of original material from the same artist in less than a year? Giggidy. The material is less instrumental than Tranzhop, with lyrics full of meaning and soundscapes like you’ve never imagined. They are indeed very Strange Creatures. Will be posting a teaser very soon.

As always, thanks for your continued support and we wish you the best in your daily battles!

Happy critter

Author: DeeKaph

This happy little guy (whose body is smaller than a penny) is made up of some wire for arms and tail, his eyes are part of the board which constitutes his body, headers for some kind of plug if memory serves, and his legs are made up of jumpers off very old mother boards (you know, when you had to use jumpers to set IRQ’s and the like, before the days of plug ‘n pray). Oh, and his eyebrows are a piece of antistatic cloth situated within a CDR drive.
